The V Shot: What It Is, How It Works and Who It’s For

Sexual wellness is health care, and it deserves the same evidence-based, judgment-free approach we bring to every other part of your care. At Inclusive Aesthetics, the V Shot is one of the ways that Dr. Grace supports women dealing with changes in arousal, lubrication, sensation and mild stress incontinence, especially the kind of changes that show up with age or hormone shifts.
Here’s what the treatment is, how it works and what the research says.
What is the V Shot?
The V Shot (sometimes referred to as the O Shot) is a PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, treatment. PRP is made from your own blood. A small sample is drawn, then processed to concentrate the platelets and growth factors naturally found in your blood. That concentrated plasma is placed into specific tissue using a topical numbing agent first, so the process stays comfortable.
The idea behind PRP isn’t new. It’s used across medicine, from orthopedics to dermatology, because platelets carry growth factors that signal your body to repair and regenerate tissue. The V Shot applies that same biology to intimate tissue.
How does it work?
Once placed, the growth factors in PRP signal nearby cells to get to work. Research on vaginal tissue specifically has shown that PRP increases collagen production at the cellular level, which matters because collagen is part of what gives tissue its structure, elasticity and ability to retain moisture. A 2025 laboratory study on the vaginal cells responsible for producing collagen found that PRP increased both cell growth and collagen output. Other published research and clinical sources describe a similar pattern: growth factors supporting new blood vessel formation and tissue repair alongside that collagen response.

In plain terms, the treatment works with your body’s own healing process rather than introducing something synthetic.
What can it help with?
Based on current research and clinical use, women consider the V Shot for support with:
Hormonal changes that affect lubrication and tissue comfort, including dryness related to perimenopause, menopause or postpartum changes
Mild stress incontinence, meaning leaking with coughing, sneezing, laughing or exercise
Changes in arousal and sensation
Support for orgasm

What’s the appointment like?
This is one of the things people appreciate most once they understand it: there’s very little to it.
The appointment is quick
Numbing is used so the treatment is comfortable
There’s no real downtime. Most people go right back to their day
Because it uses your own blood, there’s no risk of an allergic reaction to a foreign substance
Results vary by person and changes typically build gradually over several weeks rather than appearing overnight. Some women notice a difference after one session. Others benefit from a short series. We’ll talk through realistic timelines for you specifically during your consult.
Who is a good candidate?
The V Shot is intended for adults who want a gentle, low-downtime option and who understand that results vary and develop over time. It isn’t appropriate during pregnancy or with an active infection. Every plan starts with a private consultation where we go through your health history and goals so we can tell you honestly whether it’s a good fit, and if it’s not, we’ll talk through what is.
A private, respectful approach
Talking about sexual wellness can feel vulnerable, and we take that seriously. Every conversation happens in a private setting with full medical oversight, with no judgment and no assumptions about what you should or shouldn’t want for your own body. If today isn’t the right time for treatment, we’ll tell you that too.
If you’re curious whether the V Shot might be right for you, the best next step is a consult. We’ll listen first, then build a plan around your goals.
